Day 1
Arrive in Delhi (stay at The Imperial, Delhi)
Your luxury Rajasthan tour package kicks off on arrival in Delhi, where you’ll be met by a member of our team and chauffeured to The Imperial hotel. Centrally located in the heart of New Delhi, this landmark hotel was built in 1934, and designed by Lutyen’s assistant, Bromfield. It evokes the days of the British Raj and exudes style and elegance.
Take it easy this afternoon to relax, settle in, and recuperate from your international journey. Depending on how early in the day you arrive, if you’d like to begin exploring this afternoon, you can let us know anytime. Your chauffeur is always on hand, and we’re only a quick call away on your complimentary mobile phone (or WhatsApp, if you prefer).
Day 2
In Delhi
A guided tour of both Old and New Delhi today will introduce you to the Jama Masjid, Qutab Minar, India Gate, Parliament House, Humayun’s Tomb and the Sikh temple. These sights are purely suggestive, and you’re very welcome to tweak them with us in advance to best suit your interests, or even on the day itself by discussing with your guide at the time. (We’re known for our flexible approach, allowing you complete control over the pace of your trip). After exploring the bustling capital, return to The Imperial in the evening. If you’d like to dine out, we recommend the award-winning Indian Accent or Bukhara(a reservation is highly recommended at both these restaurants. Day 3
Delhi to Agra (stay at The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra)
After breakfast you’ll be chauffeured to Agra – home of the magnificent Taj Mahal. On arriving in Agra, the rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure to enjoy The Oberoi Amarvilas. Located a mere 600 metres from the Taj Mahal, The Oberoi Amarvilas is known for its elegance and style. The fabulous swimming pool and sweeping gardens make this an ideal place to rest and relax. All rooms and suites afford an uninterrupted view of the Taj Mahal. Without the restriction of visiting hours, you can catch the Taj Mahal peachy pink at dawn, glowing amber at sunset and glittering in the moonlight after dark.
Day 4
In Agra
Your guide will introduce you to the highlights of Agra, taking in the Fort, Itmad-ud-Daulah and – of course – the magnificent Taj Mahal. This evening, enjoy a private dinner served exclusively on your balcony overlooking the Taj Mahal; unforgettable, and a highlight of any luxury Rajasthan tour package.
Day 5
Agra to Ranthambhore (stay at The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore)
This morning brings an optional sunrise return to the Taj Mahal. After breakfast, you’ll drive to Bharatpur to catch the train to Ranthambhore. Visit the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri en-route to Bharatpur. When pulling into Ranthambhore station in the early evening, a member of our team will be waiting to welcome you on the platform. He or she will accompany you to The Oberoi Vanyavilas for a two-night stay in a luxury tent. The opulence of The Oberoi Vanyavilas is the perfect contrast to the ruggedness of Ranthambhore National Park. Each Luxury Tent is draped in fine fabric, dotted with traditional Rajasthani block-printed motifs. The beautiful free-standing claw-foot bathtub is a glamorous touch.
Day 6
In Ranthambhore
Bring the Jungle Book to life today as you travel through the Indian jungle on a private Jeep safari (we recommend both morning and afternoon drives). The most famous resident of Ranthambhore National Park is the beautiful Bengal tiger, and sighting one in the wild is a truly exhilarating experience. Even if you’re not lucky enough to spot one, what you’re guaranteed to see is a colourful array of birds, animals and plants, peacocks, monkeys, deer and crocodiles. There’ll be a few hours free between safaris to relax at The Oberoi Vanyavilas. If you’re feeling active, a guided tour of Ranthambhore Fort can be arranged. It rests majestically on the edge of the forest and dates back over 1,000 years.
Day 7
Ranthambhore to Jaipur (stay at The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur)
At your convenience, today you’ll be chauffeured to the Pink City of Jaipur, in the heart of Rajasthan, for a three-night stay at The Oberoi Rajvilas. There are not many hotels in the world where check-in involves a brightly painted elephant and a fragrant shower of rose petals, but then again The Oberoi Rajvilas does not settle for anything less than spectacular! The resort is almost a destination in itself, with sprawling gardens and a 250-year-old Hindu temple on the grounds. The signature Oberoi service is attentive yet unobtrusive. The Oberoi Rajvilas even employ a handful of staff with the sole responsibility of shooing pigeons from the pool! One of the finest hotels in Rajasthan, The Oberoi Rajvilas is a great choice for those seeking luxury and a royal experience.
Day 8
In Jaipur
Optionally, with an early start this morning you’ll head to the markets with your guide to experience the flurry of activity here as the Pink City wakes up. Stops would include the fragrant flower market, the wholesale milk market, the vegetable market, and the Govind Dev Ji temple, finished off with a delicious cup of chai (spiced tea) from a famous but inconspicuous chai shop. There’ll be the opportunity to return to the hotel for breakfast and a little time at rest, after which you’ll reunite with your guide to explore the old walled area of Jaipur. It includes the City Palace and its little-known private rooms, the Jantar Mantar observatory, and the elegant Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds). Bar Palladio is a lovely place to round off the day with a cocktail if you fancy.
Day 9
In Jaipur
Day 9 of your luxury Rajasthan tour package brings you to the 16th-century Amber Fort for a guided tour. Afterwards, there’ll be time at leisure to do your own thing. You might like to take this opportunity to browse for interesting souvenirs in Jaipur’s famous markets and emporiums. (When it comes to shopping, Jaipur has something for everyone: from elegant textiles to kitschy wooden camels, even the most frugal visitor is likely to leave the Pink City with one or two pieces tucked in their case! For a souvenir with local fair, we recommend a piece of semi-precious jewellery or blue pottery).
Later, continue to Dera Amer to spend a memorable evening with elephants. It’s a magical place on the outskirts of the city, where you can spend time up close with elephants by helping to feed and bathe them, before taking a gentle walk together through the surrounding forest at sunset (Dera Amer do not encourage rides). If meeting elephants isn’t your thing, this can certainly be removed or replaced. Perhaps with a private cooking class or a special dinner recommendation. For those who are interested in spending time with elephants, Dera Amer is a fantastic and ethical place to do it.
Day 10
Jaipur to Jaisalmer (stay at The Serai, Jaisalmer)
Board a short flight to the desert city of Jaisalmer this morning (if you’d rather limit internal flights, may we recommend including a night or two en-route at Ranvas, Nagaur? It’s a charming and little known boutique hotel, off the beaten track but midway between Jaipur and Jaisalmer, perfect for a couple of nights rest from the throng of the larger cities). When landing in Jaisalmer, a member of our team will accompany you to your luxury desert camp – The Serai. An oasis in the desert, The Serai offers a truly luxurious experience in Rajasthan. There are 21 tents, though the word ‘tent’ is a bit of a misnomer; each offers a private veranda, a drawing-room, and an en-suite shower room. Combining locally sourced products, such as traditional dhurries (rugs) and Jaisalmer stone tiling, with state of the art technology, The Serai offers all the facilities one would expect of a luxury hotel while remaining at home in the surroundings.
This evening, a private Jeep awaits for a safari through the desert scrub, spotting indigenous wildlife and local shepherds with their herds. A camel ride will transport you for the last leg of your journey over to the private dunes, where a butler will be waiting with champagne and canapés while you take in the famous desert sunset.
Day 11
In Jaisalmer
Today you’ll head into the town for a private guided tour of the enormous Jaisalmer Fort. It rises like a fabulous mirage out of the sands of the Thar Desert, the awesome contours of its 99 bastions softened by the golden hue of the stone. After the fort, Jaisalmer’s havelis (intricately carved houses) are its greatest attraction. Built in the 19th century by the town’s merchants and ministers, these mansions dominate its labyrinthine lanes. The havelis of Salim Singh, Nathmanji, and Patwon, are the finest examples of this type of architecture, their golden stone facades so finely carved that they could be lace. You’ll also visit Gadisagar Lake before retiring back to The Serai.
Day 12
Jaisalmer to Jodhpur (stay at RAAS, Jodhpur)
Take it easy this morning with time at leisure at The Serai. Lazing by the pool with a good book is heavenly, or why not indulge in a spa treatment? The SUJÁN spa offers a diverse menu of therapies; from reflexology to a relaxing massage. At your convenience, continue to the Blue City of Jodhpur by road for two nights at RAAS Jodhpur. It’s a stylish boutique hotel nestled at the foot of the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, with perhaps one of the best views in Rajasthan. The evening’s free to relax – enjoy a view of Mehrangarh Fort looming above you, and soak up your surroundings in the heart of Jodhpur’s old city. Or, for a truly royal experience, rub shoulders with the maharaja by staying at his palace, the Taj Umaid Bhawan, now a luxury hotel in Jodhpur.
Day 13
In Jodhpur
A guided tour of Jodhpur today takes in Jaswant Thada, Mehrangarh Fort and a walk through the labyrinthine lanes of the old city. This evening, soak up a private Bhopa performance – a rare Rajasthani art form that combines dancing, singing and painting. Afterwards, enjoy a traditional thali dinner (a bit like tapas, a thali presents you with several small plates. It’s a great way to get a taste of Rajasthan and try things you perhaps wouldn’t have otherwise ordered). Our past guests have found this a very culturally rich experience, and a highlight of their stay.
Day 14
Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur (stay at the Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur)
Today you’ll be chauffeured to the last destination of your luxury Rajasthan tour package; the dreamy city of Udaipur. Also known as the ‘Venice of the East’, Udaipur is abundant with lakes and ancient water palaces, drenched in history and romance. On the way, a stop at the Jain temple in Ranakpur is a fascinating place to stretch your legs. With 1,444 uniquely carved pillars, this 15th-century temple is an amazing sight to see. When arriving in Udaipur, you’ll take a short boat ride over Lake Pichola to reach the iconic Taj Lake Palace. Originally built in the 17th-century as a summer retreat, this dazzling and dream-like 250-year-old white marble palace appears to float like a mirage in the middle of Lake Pichola.
Day 15
In Udaipur
If you can tear yourself away from the Taj Lake Palace, your guided tour of Udaipur will begin at the magnificent City Palace. This sprawling palace is the largest in Rajasthan and stands on a ridge overlooking the lake. Cupolas crown its octagonal towers, which are connected by a maze of narrow passageways. The rooms inside the City Palace all contain decorative art: beautiful paintings, colourful enamel, inlay glass-work, and antique furniture. Later continue with a walking tour through the old city, where narrow, winding streets are teeming with shops selling clothing, silver jewellery, and leather-bound journals. Other highlights include the Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon ki Bari (a beautiful rose garden), and the Crystal Gallery. End your day on a special note with a private, sunset boat ride along Lake Pichola.
Day 16
Return to Delhi (stay at The Oberoi Gurgaon, Delhi)
After a relaxed morning at the Taj Lake Palace, later today you’ll be chauffeured to Udaipur airport to board a short flight back to Delhi. When landing in Delhi, our representative will accompany you to The Oberoi, Gurgaon for a final nights stay. Conveniently close to the airport and away from the bustle of Delhi’s centre, The Oberoi, Gurgaon is a great choice when you have to be up for a flight the following morning.
Day 17
Depart from Delhi
Your luxury Rajasthan tour package concludes this morning as you’re chauffeured to Delhi IGI airport in time for your onward flight. This additional stop is optional – you might prefer to connect from Udaipur, especially if you have a night time or early-hours departure. We’ll fine-tune this together to best suit your requirements.
Our journeys are inclusive of accommodation with breakfast, a private car with driver throughout, experienced guides, entrance tickets and excursions. In other words, we offer a seamless and hassle-free experience where the only thing you need to worry about is soaking up the sights and enjoying your luxury hotels! This indicative cost is per person, based on a couple travelling between October 2024 and March 2025, sharing a double or twin room. The cost would reduce significantly during the low-season months of April to September, while it will be noticeably higher during the peak Christmas and New Year period. We can arrange this itinerary at any time of the year, though it’s best between October and March. Ranthambhore National Park and The Oberoi Vanyavilas close annually from 1st July – 01st September. The desert camp we’ve suggested in Jaisalmer is open year-round but the direct flight from Jaipur is seasonal.
