A week or two through Rajasthan and north India is an exhilarating experience and truly awakens all of the senses. Many of our guests like to wind down after, flopping by the beach for a few nights before flying home. Goa – with its coconut-filled palm trees, delicious local seafood, and beautiful sandy beaches – is an ideal place to do just that.
For your inspiration, here are 5 of our favourite beach hotels in Goa:
Taj Exotica
Tucked away in a peaceful corner of South Goa, just a stones-throw from the Arabian sea, the fabulous Taj Exotica is one of our favourite beach hotels in Goa. The resort offers everything you want from a relaxing post-tour stay in Goa including a stunning swimming pool, direct access to a private stretch of beach, six restaurants, a fully-fledged spa, and even a golf course. The rooms and suites have recently been renovated with charming Portuguese-inspired interiors and bright pops of local flair; from traditional blue Portuguese tiling to bright yellow and terracotta orange walls. While the entire property is spread over almost 60 acres of lush gardens, the Taj Exotica retains a relaxed and intimate feel. We recommend the Taj Exotica for anyone looking to escape the more commercial areas of Goa.

Taj Exotica is possibly our favourite of all the beach hotels in Goa!
Vivanta by Taj Fort Aguada
Another of our favourite beach hotels in Goa, Vivanta by Taj Fort Aguada occupies the ramparts of an old Portuguese fortress, dating back to the 16th century. Thanks to its elevated setting above the shoreline, it boasts a fantastic view of the sweeping golden sands and the Arabian Sea. The interiors are charming and reflect the history of the area, inspired by traditional Portuguese-Goan influences. Positioned in North Goa, the setting of Fort Aguada means you’re within easy reach of the main sights, shopping areas and restaurants, and Calangute – one of the region’s busiest towns. Fort Aguada is a peaceful oasis to return to in the evening and boasts three restaurants. All rooms and suites are light and airy, with simple yet tasteful décor. Choose from views of the pretty gardens, or looking out over the ocean. We recommend Vivanta by Taj Fort Aguada for those looking to be within the heart of the action while ensuring all the comforts and service one expects from a five-star property.

Ahilya by the Sea
Quietly nestled by the quiet fishing village of Nerul, on the edge of Coco Beach, Ahilya by the Sea is another of our favourite beach hotels in Goa. Though Coco Beach is a fishing beach and not suitable to swim in, the ocean views are undeniably stunning. The interiors are bursting with local charm and character, with a distinctly boutique feel; ideal for anyone seeking an intimate and unique base in Goa. There is no formal restaurant and guests are encouraged to dine al fresco wherever takes their fancy across the property. Being family-run, Ahilya by the Sea is a friendly and welcoming property. The owners are keen to share their passion for the arts, music, and authentic Goan cuisine.

Alila Diwa
Alila Diwa, another of our favourite beach hotels in Goa, is located in the south along Majorda Beach. While it isn’t directly on the beach, it is just a short ten-minute walk away and boasts sweeping views of verdant paddy fields. All rooms and suites possess a private balcony or terrace, tastefully decorated with a simple palette of dark wood and neutral tones. The vast infinity pool occupying the heart of the hotel looks out over the rice paddies. We recommend indulging in a spa treatment or two while you’re here – Alila creates organic products and offers a range of therapies from facials to scrubs to traditional Ayurveda. Although Alila Diwa is located in the relaxed and easy-going South Goa, it still enjoys easy access to the airport and several local restaurants. Martin’s Corner, just a five-minute stroll away, is a favourite restaurant of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar whenever he’s in Goa.

St Regis (formerly The Leela)
Sprawling across 75 acres of perfectly manicured tropical gardens and lagoons, St Regis is another of our favourite beach hotels in Goa. It’s nestled right next to the Arabian Sea and offers direct access to the secluded Mobor Beach. Almost a destination itself, St Regis boasts four restaurants serving an array of cuisines, so no matter how long you stay you’ll always have something new to experience. The beachside seafood restaurant is a must-try. The swimming pool and excellent spa are perfect for lounging the day away, and if you’re feeling active, St Regis has a 12-hole golf course, three tennis courts and a state of the art gym. Those who’re seeking a more intimate experience can upgrade to the Club section: Club guests, while being welcome to use the facilities across the entire resort, can enjoy a private stretch of beach, a private lounge, a private swimming pool and lavish rooms. If you’d like to ‘fly and flop’ in Goa, take advantage of the resort’s facilities and rarely step out, St Regis is the one for you.
